We strive to make expert repairs accessible like through our trusted services at select London Drugs locations in BC and Alberta, and our convenient Canada-wide mail-in watch repair program. But now, we’re excited to introduce something entirely new:
Mobile Jewellery & Watch Repair Service. This initiative brings expert watch and jewellery specialists directly to seniors’ residences, group homes, hospitals, and community centres across the BC Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island.
This idea was inspired when we were invited to offer a “Time & Treasures” workshop at Sunrise Senior Living in Lynn Valley. Residents and their families brought in cherished watches and jewellery for cleaning, repair, and battery replacements, all right there in their community home space.
More Than Repairs: The Emotional & Practical Benefits of Watch and Jewellery Restoration
One especially touching moment came from Della, the matriarch who co-founded our company with her husband in 1979. As she watched her treasured items being cared for, she shared stories, lit up with memories, and reminded us that these items are more than just accessories; they’re part of someone’s life story.
That experience showed us a few things:
- Emotional connection: Jewellery and watches often hold powerful stories, like life milestones, anniversaries, family heirlooms, etc. They often remind us of important people in our lives, and we love to hear the stories.
- Improved accessibility: Many seniors and residents in group homes or assisted care facilities have meaningful pieces, but getting to a store isn't always easy or preferable for them, or for their families and staff. We remove that barrier by bringing expert service directly to them.
- Community building: These mobile workshops foster shared experiences. Residents chat, staff lend a hand, families join in. It's more than repair, it's interaction, connection, and joy.
- Preservation of value: Regular care and maintenance prevent bigger issues down the line, protecting both sentimental and monetary value.
